Milagu Kuzhambu (Pepper Kuzhambu)


Winter is here!! What better to eat on an off day than pepper kuzhambu?
This is again another traditional dish made from black pepper corns.Full of flavor, spicy and tangy.

Ingredients

To grind

Black Pepper corns 1 tablespoon
Urad Dal 1/2 tablespoon
Curry leaves one handful
Dry Red Chillies 2

Tamarind pulp - 1 small lemon size mixed in water
Oil - 1 tablespoon
mustard seeds 1tsp
urad dal 1tsp
salt to taste
Jaggery - optional

Grind the ingredients under to grind to a fine paste adding very little water.
Now mix this with tamarind water.
Heat a small kadai and add oil.Add mustard seeds.Once they splutter add urad dal.
Add the mix and salt. Cover and let it boil till a desired kuzhambu consistency.This should take about 10 minutes.
Add some powdered jaggery if you like.

Serve hot with steaming rice and a curry or as a side to idli or dosa.
